Sheriff Clarke – Anti-Radical Home Run Cleveland Policing Effort Discovered A Sweet Spot Stuart Varney asks if the reason there was a much lower level of violence at the Republican National Convention than was predicted was because of the efforts of police, high numbers of officers and the utilization of better tactics. Sheriff David Clarke says they hit a home run. “I’ve been watching the area police officers here all week; they’re doing an outstanding job. They found a sweet spot.” He explains, “They use enough assertive force when necessary and they dial it back when they don’t have to. Look, this isn’t protesting, these are agitators, these are troublemakers, this is a conglomeration of misfits. You have rowdy juveniles, you have criminals, you have anarchists, you have some organized labor and a spattering of well-intentioned people, but just a spattering.” Varney asks if the enormity of the killing of eight police officers in the past couple of weeks have any impact, possibly prompting the agitators to pull back a little.
